To find out how the fast-rising star is able to tackle these full roles,M&Fsat down with the man himself and soon learned that a love of meditation and exercise are the strengths of this passionate performer.

It was great to do, says Ivan of his latest film, but he’s no stranger to doing his own stunts. The actor is having what could be described as a breakout year in 2024. The star is already known to millions for his role as Joel Benítez on the hit Telemundo show.On the other side of the wall(On the other side of the wall), and more thanSix hours awayIvan is also ready for the release ofDawn of the desertworking alongsidetwilightsKellan Lutz. Still, completingSix hours awayit would be one of Ivan’s biggest tests yet.

Physically, it was very difficult, he shares. I had to train for the character. I had to train with ex-marines, says Ivan, noting that the only way to get into a character fully is to live their life instead of doing a little internet research. You have to be there. You have to hear it, he explains the process. The training for Six hours awayit was extensive and included combat scenarios, infiltration, extraction and how to handle weapons.

Guillermo Ivan was born in Mexico City and fell in love with acting when he spontaneously added himself as an extra in a movie at just six years old, after a chance visit to a park during a family vacation. Now an accomplished director and award-winning performer in his own right, he also loves to throw himself into any stunt he can. The star explains that, apart from the sequences that the producers won’t allow him to do, like jumping out of a plane, it’s all about action. When it comes to fights, motorcycles, cars, anything I can do, I will. Of course, this actor’s ability to challenge himself comes from a love of being in great shape. Ivan has practiced football, martial arts and boxing and when he shoots for long days, he still does his training, even if it means starting at 4.30am. It has become part of my life, explains the working interpreter.

Guillermo Ivan takes a holistic approach to staying fit

Consistently inclined and ready for the shirt outside the scenes, explains Guillermo Ivan M&Fthat his focus is on staying fit at all times, rather than panicking between projects. The actor also takes a holistic approach to his health and starts each day with a moment of meditation rather than directly reaching for his mobile phone. Morning workouts are on an empty stomach, fueled only by coffee and water. These morning sessions involve a mix of cardio and weight lifting, working on your strength, endurance and flexibility. The ripped actor then replenishes himself with a protein shake.

Now ready to start the day, Ivan crushes the items on his busy schedule, including table readings, emails and media interviews, and says that once he eats his first meal of the day, he will continue to eat every two hours . I try to eat enough protein and vitamins, but I don’t follow any (specific) diet, he explains. Ivan is incredibly active and attends a second practice in the evening, which usually revolves around his boxing training. The second workout (session) is really intense, in terms of cardio, he says, noting that after one last meal he’s more than ready to hit the hay. Ivan uses Sundays to go out and do some sort of active recovery, like going for a run. Sundays are also a time for the actor to enjoy whatever food he likes. The star says that being so active and watching most of what she eats allows her to be flexible and keep her healthy regimen sustainable, while still being able to have a little of what she enjoys, too.

Guillermo Ivan

Guillermo Ivan is an athlete at heart

says IvanM&Fthat although he loves the path he has followed since that random day in the park, he has always wanted to be an athlete deep down. The star played soccer as a child and enjoyed running the 100 and 200 meters. Even in his teens, Ivan wanted to be involved in sports. Me and my best friend, we were committed to sports, he shares.

We wanted to be the next football players at that time. Tragically, while both were playing for Mexico City’s soccer team, Club Universidad Nacional (aka Pumas), Ivan’s best friend died of bone cancer. Because of that, I took an acting scholarship that (was offering) and he took it away from me. Ivan traveled to Cuba, and then to New York to pursue life as a director and performer. It was just fate, if I’m being honest with you, he says. But sports were there from a very early age.

Guillermo Ivan says that sports and meditation have helped him process his feelings, and there is little that makes him happier than when he can get out and exercise. I’m always bouncing between Los Angeles, New York and Mexico City, he explains. When I’m in Mexico I try to take advantage of the time, and I go outside, I go to the beach. If I can train in really hot weather, that’s my go-to.

The future certainly looks bright for this hard-working actor.
